Fakude chairs Anglo American's management board in South Africa, leading the group's wider business and societal interests in the country. Anglo said in 2025 she would stay on in the role through its restructuring, and in July 2026 confirmed she will continue as chair of Anglo Teck's South African management board, reporting to Duncan Wanblad. In 2021 she became the first woman to serve as president of the Minerals Council South Africa.
